Most Expensive Homes Ever
There are some truly extravagant and expensive homes in the world. People with millions and sometimes billions of dollars have purchased these homes. In today’s article I’d like to talk a little about these homes and if you’re feeling frisky you can look them up to get a look at a few pictures to see just how amazing they are.
The most expensive home ever sold, even though it’s possible the deal hasn’t actually gone through, is in France. It’s called La Leopolda and it was built for the mistress of King Leopold of Belgium. It overlooks the French Riviera and it’s truly one of the most spectacular looking constructions you’ll ever see. It’s expansive and done in a beautiful light orange color that really works for the waterside setting. The grounds are fantastic too with pools, amazing foliage, and even a small park to browse through. The cost of the house was said to be $750 million, although the Russian billionaire that put down the bid has since tried to back out so it’s not clear if he will end up owning it.
A Victoria villa in West London sold for $159 million in 2008. It was purchased by a Ukranian businesswoman who clearly has no shortage of money. The house was previously used as a girls school and was purchased in 2006 by developers to be re-fashioned as a residence. It features ten stunning bedrooms, an even more stunning pool, a gym, a theater, a panic room for the safety conscious, and a sauna. The house is considered one of the most expensive ever sold and while pictures of it from the outside will not blow your mind it’s said to be absolutely fantastic on the inside. Plus, the price of this one is more about the location than anything else.
In 2004 Donald Trump purchased a mansion in Palm Beach and paid roughly $50 million for it. The mansion features 68,000 square feet of living space and countless bedrooms, bathrooms, and amenities. Given Mr. Trump’s opulent tastes you can count on there being gold all over the place and many expensive pieces of furniture to rest your bottom on. The most important feature of the house is that it’s right on the ocean. It’s a gorgeous piece of property and the beach is all yours to enjoy as the owner. The view is fabulous no matter where you’re standing. The house was sold for $100 million so Mr. Trump cleared quite a profit on it.
The most expensive home ever built is being constructed in India. It’s going to be 27 stories tall and cost nearly $2 billion. The man building it is absurdly wealthy and wants to have the most impressive home the world has ever seen for his family. It’s basically a skyscraper that is a single family home. It’s opulent and ridiculous and wonderful all at the same time. The first six floors of the house will be used for parking the many cars the family owns. The eighth floor with contain a cinema along with a garden and balconies. The ninth floor will be a treatment center for family emergencies. The next two floors will have athletic facilities like a health club and a pool. There will be two stories of guest apartments and four stories of living space for the family. A helipad will be atop the building. It’s awesome.
There’s a $165 million home in Beverly Hills that was once owned by William Randolph Hearst, the newspaper magnate. The home is gorgeous in a dark pink and the pool is absolutely fantastic. You’ve never seen such a wonderful place. Plus, you’re in the heart of Los Angeles with celebrities all around you so you can count on your neighbors being beautiful people.
If you’re a fan of castles then you should head to Brasov, Romania where you’ll find Bran Castle. The imposing home was built in 1212 and once housed Vlad the Impaler, a Romanian prince and the inspiration for Dracula. The house is valued at $140 million and it sits on 20 acres of land. Like many castles it was built to keep people out so it’s rather imposing and seems difficult to get into.
A lovely place called Updown Court in Windlesham, Surrey goes for $138 million and is absurdly beautiful. The manicured grounds will relax you and all the rooms you can play in will delight you. The entrance will take your breath away and will still leave you unprepared for all the wonder that waits inside. There’s marble everywhere! There’s also one of the finest indoor pools you’ll ever see. There’s a Jacuzzi there too and it’s like having the world’s finest bathroom all to yourself.
The most expensive house in the United States belongs to Prince Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the former Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States. It’s in Aspen, Colorado and it’s valued at $135 million. It’s built in the style of a ski lodge with all the wonderful wood and the location is absolutely fantastic. The views of the mountains are utterly breathtaking and if you get a look at a few pictures you’ll agree that it would be worth all that money to wake up to that view every day. The house has tons of privacy and almost any amenity you can imagine.
These sorts of expensive homes are all over the world and what’s above is just a small taste. There are billionaires everywhere and some of them like to spend their money on the most comfortable living possible and we can’t blame them. Who among us wouldn’t want to live in a house like that place in Aspen or that incredible skyscraper family home in India? It would be a marvelous life and one that we can all dream of with fondness. These are lucky folks living in these wonderful places and you get to have a little fun checking out the pictures.
